CTS or CTD is caused by repetitive injury which leads to compression of the median nerve. Compression of the median nerve can occur from swelling of the tendon and ligament of the carpal tunnel. This median nerve runs down the length of the forearm, and enters the wrist though the carpal tunnel. The median controls the movement and feelings of your thumb and the movement of all your fingers, except your little pinky.
The pain will include burning, tingling or itching and numbness in your palm, thumb or your index and middle fingers. Weakness in your hand and trouble holding things, shock like feeling that move into your fingers.
Prevention to this pain is to keep your wrists straight, use a splint or brace keeping your wrist in a neutral position, avoid flexing and extending your wrists over and over again. Ibuprofen and Tylenol can be of help.
The average age for CTS is 45-54 and the ratio is 3 to 1 vs. women to men. There are 8 million people that suffer from CTS.
The highest rate of work that leads to CTS are; apparel manufacturing, textile workers, telephone operators, mechanical assemblers, food and coffee shop attendants, to name a few.
Now, even in this pandemic we are trotting through, many of us are on the computer daily. Not for a minute but for hours and hours of Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, Webinars, Cisco, WebEx and it goes on and on, from morning to night. This additional grouping of workers now leads to surgery.

]]>You may want to first take a look in the mirror at your earlobes. Remember now, if you are eating correctly and doing your exercise and taking Vitamin E, the likely hood is there is nothing wrong. I am not telling not to get a flu shot but you may want to consider some old fashion steps that are, not only totally safe, but extremely effective.
The flu virus is a “droplet” virus, meaning it spreads in droplets when people cough and sneeze or from exposure to nasal discharge followed by touching the mouth and nose. You need to combat that by washing your hands well and frequently and wearing a mask is a great way to prevent being exposed.
Stay away from sweets. Sugar that is found in soda, desserts, ice cream along with many processed foods is well researched as an immune suppressor! You need your immune system to be strong not weak.
Get plenty of sleep, as that is one of the best ways to boost your immune system. If you normally sleep 8 hours, give yourself some extra snoozes, go to bed earlier and try 10 hours if you’re feeling something coming on.
Start using a zinc supplement like zinc citrate around 25 to 50 mg daily. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Moist mucous membranes are terrific barriers against viruses and other kinds of infections.

There are non-Alzheimer’s forms of dementia too, believed mostly caused by a series of small strokes, which haven’t even been identified, as of now.
It seems the more you read the more it comes back to what you eat. You are what you eat and most health problems are caused by the wrong choices of diet. In fact, more and more research link blood sugar problems, such as diabetes with a higher risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
So we are off and running because you need to eliminate the sugar and refined carbohydrates, be sure to eat non starchy veggies (in all colors) and you have a good chance of not being a member of the Alzheimer’s club.
People say “why bother eating organic"? Sure, it is a bit more expensive than “regular food” but organically grown foods have significantly more vitamins than commercial regular food and not to mention dodging contaminants such as pesticides, herbicides and miscellaneous chemical additives. ]]>There are over 60 million people that are affected by acid reflux and many of them have it on a daily basis!
What causes this to happen? The heartburn, which is a symptom of acid reflux, is caused by the weakening of the lower esophageal sphincter, which allows the stomach acid to leak through the esophagus and back up to your throat, causing that horrible feeling.
Acid reflux may be the result of many different things such as smoking, as nicotine may cause the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) to relax to the point of allowing stomach acid to back up into the esophagus. Alcohol also can create that same scenario in relaxing the LES.
A 2005 study of late evening eating, less than 3 hours before bedtime, had significantly increased your susceptibility to experience acid reflux. As recently as 2011 another study determined that acid reflux cases had doubled in the previous 10 years, noting that this rise in acid reflux runs parallel to the number of obese patients. Watch your weight!
There are other conditions that may be a factor in acid reflux such as a hiatal hernia, where a portion of the stomach pushes through the hiatus. When the hernia becomes large enough, it could cause acid and food to re-enter the esophagus, causing reflux. This could possibly require surgery.
Diet can be of major help if you are suffering from acid reflux and you should be having a cup of ginger tea daily along with vegetables, like broccoli, asparagus and cauliflower are very important. Yogurt is also a strong recommendation to promote gut health. Fruits are also very helpful as long as they are not citrus. Stay away from oranges, pineapples and grapefruit!

]]>The British Heart Foundation has been researching keys to preventing attacks and strokes and found this compound, EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate) most commonly associated with green tea, binds amyloid fibers and these fibers then convert to a smaller soluble molecules, which are less likely to be create a restriction in the blood vessels, thus preventing heart attacks and strokes.
Amyloid fibers occur in advanced stages of Atherosclerosis, which is the build-up of fatty material inside arteries that can reduce the flow of blood to the heart and brain. These amyloid deposits build up within the plaques, therefore increasing the size of the plaque which further restricts blood flow leading to a heart attack or stroke. It seems that studies on the EGCG compound found in green tea, shows its ability to reduce amyloid plaques in the brain of Alzheimer’s disease, and also breaks up and dissolves potentially dangerous protein plaques found throughout arteries and blood vessels. This is great news for all of us however there is another problem: The scientists are still trying to figure out how they can get effective amounts of EGCG into the bloodstream without it being necessary to drink enormous amounts of potentially harmful quantities of green tea.
They are currently working on modifying the chemical structure of EGCG to make it easier to be absorbed from the stomach and more resistant to metabolism, or possibly to develop another method to deliver the molecule to the plaques through injection. There is actually a difference between cognition and memory: you see cognition is the mental action or process of acquiring knowledge and understanding through thought, experience and the senses. Memory is the way the mind stores and remembers information.

To be frank, it is hard for me to believe that people still drink tap water. I am stunned because there is so much information out there about water contamination, that I assume every adult is aware of what is going on. Remember Flint, Michigan a couple of years back?
Municipal drinking water is loaded with antibiotics, hormones, pharmaceuticals and dangerous toxins that are not being entirely filtered. We are talking about beta-blockers, anti-convulsants and anti-anxiety medications to mention a few. Imagine that in water treatment plants globally, estrogens from birth control pills are found!
The top three culprits to avoid at all cost: Lead, Fluoride, and Chlorine.
Lead exposure is related to ADHD, asthma in children, inflammation in blood and obesity.
Exposure to Fluoride (added to water intentionally), has negative impacts on the thyroid.
Chlorine, again added to water intentionally to protect the public from infectious disease, is playing a big role in increased cancer risk!
